GirlsGoIT joined Ada Awards in Brussels in recognising exceptional girls and women in digital sectors around the world, and the people and organisations supporting them. The awards which has three categories: Digital Woman Award, Digital Girl Award and Digital Impact Award. The award winners come from UK, Ireland, France, Germany, and Lithuania.
Cheryl Miller, founder and Executive Director of Digital Leadership Institute in Brussels said the Ada awards vision is to recognise talented women and girls around the world should be recognised for their work and this is why we want to have the Ada award program spread across many countries recognising women and girls for their bravery and work.
Cheryl participated as a speaker at the GirlsGoIT Annual Forum in November 2017, she shared a lot of inspiring speech to young women in Moldova, as part of her movement to bridge the digital gender gap in the world. A potential discussion was made between Cheryl and GirlsGoIT platform to have Ada awards in Moldova in 2018.
The Ada Awards are an initiative of the Digital Leadership Institute, a Brussels-based international NGO with a mission to bridge the gender gap and digital divide worldwide. The Ada Awards were launched in 2012 as a pledge to the Grand Coalition for Digital Skills and Jobs in Europe. In their first year, the Ada Awards enjoyed the generous patronage of European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes and UN ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Touré.
