This is the sixth year Technovation Challenge has been present in Moldova engaging teen-girls to learn how to build mobile apps and businesses for social impact.
This year Technovation challenged inducted 26 girls from 8 localities (Ciorescu, Budesti, Bravicea, Gratiesti, Nisporeni, Soroca, Mereni and Chisinau) into 2018 program. During the meeting, During this interactive workshop, teams shared ideas through SWOT analysis with the support of Peace Corps Volunteers and Ellation in learning the App Inventor program to build an app addressing ideas generated by girls such as “Road Safety”.
Peace Corps Volunteers will support girls all through the program to guide girls-team in developing their social-business plan and mobile app development.
In 2014, a team of 4 girls from Stefanesti won Technovation Challenge Global First Prize in San Francisco with the prize of 10 000 USD. They created a phone app called Apa Pura that provides users with a map of local wells and their water quality.
Technovation challenge offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn the skills they need to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Every year we invite girls to identify a problem in their community, and then challenge them to solve it.
